Graffiti Jam Bofferdange

Ooh, it is hot today, over 30 C. Ideal for Graffiti jam. I don't bother to go to Blues'n Jazz Rallye.

Graffiti (italian, singular: graffito) is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place (Oxford dictionary definition). Graffiti ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and it has existed since ancient times, like Ancient Rome.

Still in the 1990's graffiti was something rebellious but became tamed and commercialized some 10 years ago. Especially IBM and Sony used graffiti in their sales campaigns. Now it is part of main stream pop culture.

Lorentzweiler town and Youth house organize yearly so called Graffiti Jam at Bofferdange. A big wall in two levels is reserved for the graffiti artist to do their work. The event last two days since painting nice graffiti takes time. Music, especially hip hop music go often hand in hand with graffiti events.

My buddy Don Esaias didn't want to come. Usually he is ready to join any art event, but this time he refused. I asked why. Finally he explained that he does not like hip hop or rap, but heavy metal. Street artist go together with rappers. Well, he can have his opinion. I like it.
